Grassroots activities

Bahá’ís and our friends hold a variety of community-building activities that link personal growth with community development.

Activities are at the heart of our community life and, since every neighborhood has unique interests and challenges, we find meaningful ways to connect by cycling through a process of group study, action, and reflection. The Bahá’í spiritual teachings inspire us to form deep and diverse relationships and build communities that nurture the well-being of all. We all have a part to play in shaping a bright future.

Free & Open

Activities are free and open to all, regardless of background. Contact us to participate or to discuss other ways we can connect.

Grassroots

Bahá’ís don’t have ministers, rabbis, gurus, mullahs, or other religious leaders. Instead, elected administrative institutions oversee community affairs. Activities are hosted by individuals, families, friends, committees, and other groups.

Many locations

There is no single location for Bahá’í gatherings. We meet in homes, outdoors, or other spaces including the Bahá’í Center in Eugene. A popular Bahá’í prayer says every place is blessed, “where mention of God hath been made.”

Community development

The Bahá’í community gathers regularly to build spiritual and social connections. We pray, study, plan service activities, and conduct community business. These include Feasts and Reflection Gatherings.

Learn about the Baháʼí teachings

A Baháʼí fireside is a warm, casual gathering for anyone who wants to learn about the Baháʼí Faith. The informal nature of a fireside offers opportunities for people to have their questions answered about Baháʼu’lláh’s teachings.

Dawn prayers

A great way to start the day! Individual prayers are offered ‘popcorn style’ which means we speak up when we are moved to do so. Baháʼí prayers to read from can be found at the Bahá’í Reference Library, or bring your own sacred words to share.

Weekly devotional gathering

Everyone is welcome to this loving, safe space to enjoy the beauty of prayer and build friendships. Each week has a different theme and includes a brief program, music, individual prayer, and group discussion.

Open to all. No donations requested or accepted.

Sundays • 10-11:30 a.m. In person only at the Baha’i Center at 1458 Alder St. in Eugene.
