Annual letter to the Bahá’í World: 2024 Riḍván Message
About the Riḍván Message
Each year in late April, Bahá’ís and their friends in the Eugene/Springfield area join millions worldwide to read and reflect on the annual Riḍván Message (pronounced RIZ-wan) from the Universal House of Justice, the international governing body of the Bahá’í Faith.
This message is released during the Riḍván Festival, which marks Bahá’u’lláh’s 1863 declaration of His station and mission as the founder of the Bahá’í Faith. The Riḍván Message highlights the progress of the global Bahá’í community over the past year and provides a framework for action in the year ahead.
2024 Riḍván Message highlights
Length: 2 pages.
- The messsage begins by recognizing progress made in the previous year. but goes on to acknowledge that “…with every passing day, we see too the condition of the world grow more desperate, its divisions more severe. The escalating tensions within societies and between nations affect peoples and places in a myriad ways.
“This demands from every conscientious soul a response.”
- It draws our attention to the already familiar tools and instruments that will “allow every soul to contribute a share of what humanity needs in this day. “
- It asks: “Where else but in Bahá’u’lláh’s principle of the oneness of humankind can the world find a vision broad enough to unite all its diverse elements?”
- We are reminded that the “urgency of the present hour must not obscure the special joy that comes from service.” And that “the sweetest moments of all for any enkindled heart are those spent with spiritual sisters and brothers, tending to a society in need of spiritual nourishment.”
